Ready, set, go!

Picture
My coach, Michael Melcher, advised me that to train to be a coach, one has to just start coaching. I've been doing lots of gearing up. Reading everything I can, getting this website together, talking it through with trusted friends and advisors.  Today I posted my website on facebook and indicated to the world that I am seeking 1-2 practice clients.

The thing is, coaching is very much a part of who I am and what I do, but formalizing this role as part of my profession, and announcing it to the world is a big step.  I'm shifting from testing the waters to diving right in.  Unlike past experiences where I was seeking a new job or a change in career path, this time around I am creating something of my own, something that really represents who I am and how I want to live every day of my life. The best part is that, through coaching, I will collaborate with clients to do the same.

On blogging and my mother in law

Picture
My mother in law recently started a blog about quilting -- her 2nd career / retirement passion.  I am so inspired by this, and by the fact that she has thrown herself into this new phase of life so exuberantly and completely.  I have been thinking day in and day out about taking on a new identity as a coach.  Over the past three years, my mother in law has taken on a whole new identity as a quilter, and just started to go even more 'public' by starting her blog.
So, my first blog is a tribute to my mother in law.  An inspiring example of someone who took brave steps to create a life she loves, and who has taken further steps to share her growing passion with the world at large!
